PHYSIOTRAIN

At Physiotrain we believe most injuries are caused by the muscle imbalance movement dysfunction cycle. We integrate proper body mechanics and optimal posture alignment through movement based training and tri-planar dynamic core exercises. This integration directly decreases the prevalence of repeated tissue trauma, interrupts the dysfunction cycle and improves function and performance. Life is three-dimensional.  Physiotrain understands the importance of exercising in all three planes to create optimal performance in sport and everyday function.

OUR MISSION


Our mission is to inspire and facilitate an ongoing commitment to healthful and active lifestyles through Physical Therapy, Movement Science and Applied Functional Sciences.  We create and redefine the role of Physical Therapy in the field of wellness, performance training and injury prevention by bridging the gap between Physical Therapy and Personal Training.  We serve the growing population of individuals taking a proactive approach in improving their health and quality of life.  We understand and appreciate the complexity of each client’s physical and emotional uniqueness by providing individualized exercise programs designed by licensed Physical Therapists who specialize in Personal Training.

DR. RICCARDO SPECCHIERLA

Doctor of Physical Therapy

Dr. Riccardo received his Doctorate in Physical Therapy from the EIM in August 2015. He graduated from California State University Northridge (CSUN) with a Master of Physical Therapy Degree in 1998 and received a Bachelor of Science in Health Sciences in 1997. He completed the Kaiser Permanente Orthopedic and Movement Science year long courses and co-founded Physiotrain, personal training by Physical Therapists. He became a Fellow of Applied Functional Science by completing a year long fellowship at The Gray Institute for Functional Transformation. He worked as a trainer and educator to the trainers at Sports Club LA, one of the top sports club facilities in the Nation.

Dr. Riccardo has been practicing as a licensed Physical Therapist since 1998. He achieved his certification by the National Strength and Conditioning Association as a Strength and Conditioning Specialist in 2005, certification in personal training by the National Academy of Sports Medicine in 2006 and Titleist Performance Institute Level 1 in 2009. Certification in Applied Functional Science 2014, 3D Movement Analysis and

Performance System certified in 2014. In 2012 he became a “E” licensed soccer coach through US Soccer. He has achieved a level III ski instructor certification by Professional Ski Instructors of America and was a competitive Category 2 United States Cycling Federation road cyclist.

Dr. Riccardo is a highly motivated health and fitness professional who has a lifetime commitment to education, fitness and sports. His experiences as a competitive athlete and a Physical Therapist gives him a unique perspective as an educator and health and fitness professional. Dr. Riccardo provides the ultimate preparation for life and sport by applying his knowledge of injury prevention and implementing triplaner movement base training methodology.

Dr. Cooper, a pioneer of modern aerobic exercise, once said, “We do not stop exercising because we grow old - we grow old because we stop exercising.” 

The wisdom of this quote dawned on me when my DNA analysis revealed that I share genes with centenarians. Thus, in order to epitomize my God-given potential, exercise became crucial.  For the past ten years, I have been exercising with Dr. Specchierla, affectionately known as Riccardo. Now, the backache that once distressed my L5 vertebra feels like a long-gone memory. Thanks to Riccardo, aging does not fear me anymore. By growing older each year, I feel better, stronger, and healthier than ever before.
